Vanderhoof Community Foundation receives donation from the District of Vanderhoof

On behalf of the Vanderhoof Community Foundation, I would like to thank the District of Vanderhoof (DOV) for its recent donation of $2807. The DOV was instrumental in establishing the Foundation and we sincerely appreciate the ongoing support.

These funds represent the District of Vanderhoof’s share of a surplus held in an account for the Stuart Nechako Regional Economic Development Society which was recently dissolved.

In their letter to the Foundation, DOV indicated they wanted to recognize the VCF for their continued and enduring support of worthwhile, home-grown community projects. Through a mix of donations, volunteer efforts and smart fiscal management, the Foundation has funded initiatives such as the COVID-19 Fitness Challenge, Overdose Recognition Training and Naloxone Kit Distribution. Additionally, they have assisted other local organizations in enhancing their service delivery by granting funds to such groups as the Nechako Valley Search and Rescue for Incident Command Vests and the Vanderhoof Air Cadets for specialized waterproofing and storage equipment.

The District of Vanderhoof offered these additional funds to help the Foundation build its permanent endowment for further projects and initiatives and to continue the mission to strengthen our community today, tomorrow and forever.
