The Vanderhoof Community Foundation is pleased to announce the first of four recipients of grants for 2021.
The Air Cadets in Vanderhoof offer a program for youth ages 12-18 which focuses on developing leadership, citizenship, physical fitness and an interest in air activities of the Canadian Forces. The local group has been developing their outdoor recreation and education program including canoeing skills. The group received grants to purchase canoes and the next step is the purchase of necessary equipment such as dry bags, VHF radios, water filters, First Aid kits and waterproof barrels. The Foundation’s contribution helped leverage grants from several other organizations to cover these costs.
Brad McRobert, Commanding Officer of the Vanderhoof Cadets says, “this project allowed the cadet squadron to purchase specialized waterproofing and storage equipment for canoe training and multi day trips. This will ensure that cadets’ personal gear and squadron equipment is kept safe and secure and allow our cadets to participate in trips to more remote locations.
