Rio Tinto teams up with the Vanderhoof Community Foundation for a win/win partnership

Rio Tinto hands out swag (pens, cups, fridge magnets etc.) at Conferences they attend.  At the B.C. Natural Resources Forum this past January, they directed this budget to support local community organizations.

Rio Tinto identified three organizations from the Prince George, Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof areas to partner with.

The Vanderhoof Community Foundation was thrilled to be chosen for this donation in our community.  We were able to attend the Natural Resources Forum and share information about the Foundation at the Rio Tinto booth, where they had laptops set up for people to answer some skill testing questions about their operations.

Each participant was able to designate which charity they wanted their Rio Tinto dollars to go to based on information shared by volunteers at the booth.  Following the event, Rio Tinto calculated the votes for each organization and then rounded the donation to $2,500 for each.

The Vanderhoof Community Foundation intends to use this contribution to support community projects that make Vanderhoof a better place to live, work and play.  The funds in our Endowment Fund are held for perpetuity and the earnings from these investments provide us with dollars to support worthwhile community projects today, tomorrow and forever!
